What You Can Expect from Acupuncture Treatment

    Last updated 5 months ago

Practiced in Asian countries for thousands of years, acupuncture therapy uses thin needles to stimulate certain points throughout the body. Not only can acupuncture therapy help relieve pain, but it can also help reduce nausea and vomiting following surgery or chemotherapy. The total number of acupuncture sessions someone needs to experience this change depends on the patient’s type of chronic pain, duration of illness, and healing ability.

    How Does Acupuncture Work?
It is theorized that acupuncture helps block pain impulses from reaching the spinal cord or brain. Many acupuncture points are situated near neural structures, allowing acupuncture to stimulate the nervous system. Even though having a positive state of mind helps with acupuncture, you don’t necessarily have to believe in the treatment for it to work. In fact, clinical studies have found acupuncture to be effective when used in very small children and animals.

    Are the Needles Safe?
In the state of California, every acupuncturist is required to use single-use disposable sterile needles to ensure patient safety. At Rejuvenate Chiropractic Spa, our acupuncturist is trained and certified in Clean Needle Technique, which emphasizes proper disposal of used acupuncture needles.

    Does Acupuncture Hurt?
The needles used during an acupuncture session have a doweled end, so they don’t cut into the skin in the same way that injection needles do. When an acupuncturist first inserts a needle, the patient may feel a light prick. However, the needles immediately encourage a calming sensation. During the treatment, it’s common for the patient to develop feelings of relaxation and renewed energy. Though treatment results depend on the individual person, patients usually obtain maximum benefits after eight to 12 treatments scheduled at weekly intervals.

At Rejuvenate Chiropractic Spa, we help each patient achieve his or her healthcare goals by offering the latest technology in a relaxing spa environment. If you would like to learn more about promoting natural healing through acupuncture, schedule an appointment with our experienced team. You can reach our Corona office by calling (951) 279-8900.

    Overcoming Neuropathy with Chiropractic Care

    Last updated 5 months ago

Neuropathy is a chronic condition in which the body’s nerves do not work properly due to peripheral or central nervous system damage. Peripheral neuropathy affects the motor, sensory, and autonomic nerves that transmit signals between the spinal cord and muscles or internal organs. Even though the pain associated with peripheral neuropathy can become severe and debilitating, it can be controlled or eliminated through chiropractic care.

    Causes of Neuropathy
In many cases, it’s difficult to pinpoint the cause of peripheral neuropathy. However, some nerves diseases run in families. The most common cause of peripheral neuropathy is diabetes, as high blood sugar levels can cause long-term nerve damage. Other health conditions, like rheumatoid arthritis, HIV, and chronic kidney disease, have also been linked to peripheral neuropathy. In addition, a broken bone that affects a nerve and exposure to cold temperatures for a long period of time can also cause peripheral neuropathy.

    Symptoms of Neuropathy
The symptoms of peripheral neuropathy depend on which nerve is damaged, as the condition can affect one nerve, several nerves, or the entire body. An early sign of nerve damage is tingling or burning in the arms and legs. Peripheral neuropathy can also cause someone to lose feeling in his or her arms and legs. As a result, it can become difficult to sense changes in temperatures or notice small blisters and sores on the feet.

    Chiropractic Treatment for Neuropathy
The vertebrae of the spine protect the spinal cord, so misalignments in the vertebrae can interfere with the spinal cord’s functioning. If vertebrae don’t protect the spinal cord, someone can develop a mechanical injury or pressure and irritation on the spinal nerves. Chiropractic care focuses on proper alignment of the spine and reducing the source of irritation to the spinal nerves, which helps the body’s nervous system function more efficiently and comfortably.

Rejuvenate Chiropractic Spa was established to provide Corona residents with the highest standard of care in a treatment environment that promotes physical and emotional healing.
